GAIDB- Position Statement- Maintenance during prolonged dry and hot weather periods
The Land Drainage Act 1991 places a duty on the Board to consider the impact of its work on the environment. The annual maintenance season is starting during a long period of below average rainfall and high temperatures which have an effect on fish in association with low flows, water temperature and dissolved oxygen availability. The statement sets out the Board’s position with regard to maintenance activity impact on fish stocks during this period
